![]() ![]() Every Blur Trail so far is based off a character.Evolving a Blur Trail will result in a singular evolved trail at level 1, with boosted stats compared to the unevolved variant.Įach Blur Trail takes up one of the character's inventory slots. Additionally, the player can evolve a Blur Trail by collecting five of the same type, leveling all of them up to maximum, and bringing them to the Fusion Machine. Leveling up a Blur Trail will improve the benefits it grants. The player can level up a Blur Trail by visiting the Upgrade Machine and paying a sum of Rings and/or Red Star Rings, which varies depending on the Blur Trail and current level. The player can equip the playable character with any Blur Trail, although they can only equip one at a time. Their rarities determine the benefits they grant when equipped, which involve boosting the amount of XP and Rings earned when Chaos Orbs or Rings are collected, as well as any other additional benefits each trail may have individually such as power, magnet multipliers or even stamina multipliers. Each Blur Trail has a set rarity, though legendary is the most common for Blur Trails, usually due to their difficult obtaining method. When obtaining a Blur Trail, the player can equip it to the playable character, which makes them leave an animated texture in their wake as they move around. The player can normally only obtain them during the character's event within the game and usually become unobtainable once this has passed. In Sonic Speed Simulator, Blur Trails, like other Trails, are cosmetic items with notable gameplay functions that boost the player's different rewards. Blur Trails so far are only based on characters. As the name suggests, a Blur Trail is notiable for looking as if the character it is designed after is moving at a high speed, leaving behind a trail similar to those used when those characters run or Spin Dash in other Sonic titles. The color and shape of the trail depends on its type. Regardless, a Blur Trail stretches out from behind the playable character until it eventually fades away. These trails appear as textures in the form of either streams in different colors or strings of figures. I’m glad this vision came to life it seems like a great way to split the levels apart. When equipped, Blur Trails take the appearance of different Trails that the playable character leaves behind them while they move around or surrounds them like an aura when standing still. If you look at the various world environments, you’ll see each world takes inspiration from a real-world locale such as Rio de Janeiro. I seem to recall BM’s director saying in an interview that he wanted to create a game where the monkeys travel across the world, and that seems to have come to life here. I’m so excited to roll through brand-new courses for the first time since 2012. BBHD was great for reviving the series and BM was even better for returning it to its roots, but it’s definitely time for an original entry. I’m so happy that we’re getting an original game and not another remake. Speaking of online… does anyone know if they’ve confirmed online leaderboards? That’s become a major part of recent Monkey Ball games for me HOLY SHIT local and online multiplayer in real time!!!!! When I was a kid, I would think about the possibility of racing through courses with friends, and now that dream is a reality! Woohoo! Nintendo Switch exclusive… I’m not too surprised since I’m guessing BBHD and BM sold best on Switch (it seems like a series that would appeal foremost to Nintendo fans) but still a shame that it’ll be available to less people. I’d prefer if the stages are designed around NOT using the spin dash, but the spin dash can still be used to pull off epic shortcuts. It could end up being great, but one thing I love about Monkey Ball is its simplicity and I hope that stages don’t become designed around this new mechanic. It’s not terrible but I definitely prefer the look of Banana Mania’s characters, for example. I’m not thrilled by the new artstyle, or look of the monkeys, or whatever you want to call it. Monkey Ball is one of my childhood series and I love it so dearly - even many of the entries that are usually considered the bad ones. ![]()
